FS: EC Zana Deux Super

I bought the from @Mr.Sneis here

and selling for the same price of $1900 shipped plus PayPal fees.

The stock blue velvet volume pot was replaced with a TKD pot by the awesome local SBAF'er @miter53 who had to do some creative work to get it to fit. $100 but priceless for that smooth buttery feel every time you touch the amp!

Selling because it seems bright to me. But @Mr.Sneis was very happy with it and I have never used full sized headphones with it, only my own modified S-12 ortho iem. Which has wonderful synergy with the first ZDS I bought. I have no idea what's going on here, but just a heads up since this is SBAF. Since this one is functioning perfectly, I would assume this is the one that sounds normal, but I'll either be fixing my other ZDS or picking up another one at some point to find out.

Functions perfectly, it's my other ZDS that is not working right.

Physical condition is immaculate.

Really sad to let this go

Comes with an RCA red base 5961 as the original sale did, and a pair of 6c33C-B power tubes, and Svetlana rectifiers.

Pictures on IMGUR here. Note, the volume knob is not full of chalk like the image suggests, it looks plain black it's just the light/image picking up every piece of dust, and it comes with blue rectifier cables, not yellow. The yellow ones need resoldering as of yesterday.

@Bill-P and I keep selling a certain old lush ZD back and forth. @brencho even owned it in there once. If Bill decides he has to get rid of it, I will buy it back...again.

Oh- and I am on my second Balancing Act and second Super 7. So it is a thing.

EDIT: Clarification...I only have one BA, one totally modded Super 7, one Black Widow, one Moth 2a3. (Someone read that as having two Balancing Acts.)

 

The re-buy is such a mind f**k.

@rhythmdevils Sorry if a bit off topic do you happen to know how the Zana Deux compare with the Balancing Act? I heard a friend's ECBA once and came away very impressed despite the lack of power delivery for inefficient planars...

 

Hey rhythmdevils I will happily buy this from you if it is still available. Always wanted one but things kept coming up when they were in production.

 

I think they likely have the same vintage EC house sound, but otherwise are very different because the ZDS is OTL and the blanking act is DHT right? and balanced? So the Balancing act would be more like the Stratus and able to power efficient orthos I imagine like Audeze's. Not Susvara or 1266 or Tungsten.

The ZDS can't power orthos of any kind except for the S-12 which sounds incredible with it.

I haven't hear a balancing act in a long time and don't remember what it sounds ike so this is a guess.
