The barrel jack is for powering the hat, but if you have the jumper installed you can also power the Pi.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Super excited for this. My Pi3 has only been doing some basic movie and music serving via Open Elec. Can't wait to test the hat out for dedicated music via Volumio. Making some new cables just for the testing.

@Michael Kelly are you going to PM us when you are ready to ship?

Woah, corgratulations, dude. When I got married I don't think I could think of audio for a few months. Though, thats not why I'm congratulating you.

What supply did you end up with, right now?

Vastx is in Italy and he should get his in 3-4 days the others are US and should arrive Thursday at the latest. Also I will be wrapping up a preliminary hw reference guide by tomorrow. You guys are getting it a bit rough. Feedback is important and will greatly help refine this for production.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Thank you, m8. I turned off my stereo for a month due to lack of time but I felt the visceral need to listen to music all the time.
I ended up with the DIYINK LT3042 Kit, I'm pretty sure there are better things around (I scanned the web for comparison) but they require more money and\or work.
I would have tried a chinese cheap shunt supply, provided I currently had more time\money but I can't complain as I'm pretty glad with it.

Thank you Micheal, for the congratulation and the SPEED of the shipping of the SPEED2 :)
Last time it took 2\3 weeks for it to arrive. You guys in US get to play always sooner than me :p

I paid $42 for the express shipping option, so it better get there earlier than last time! They state 5-6 business days, so we'll see. Long term we have a partner in France that will be distributing these boards. They are www.audiophonics.fr. Check them out as they have lot's of other neat audio/raspberry pi stuff.

    Cheers,
    Michael

OMG! I really didn't think It would cost so much  Man, I'm sorry, I hope I'll make it worth to you
I already pointed out and linked the french shop you are referring to for audio PSU kits. I sometimes buy from them and have nothing to complain about.

Don't worry about the cost. You guys are doing me a great service by testing this board under many different circumstances, and many different sets of expectations. All I ask is that you give me some good feedback, good meaning lots of information, even if it's bad!

    Cheers,
    Michael

GOT IT! The board looks nice and tidy! Doesnt at all look like a proto. Well done in that regard.

So before I blow something up, I just want to verify what I should do with the jumper. If I leave it in, does the SPD2 get its power from the Pi? If I remove it, does the Pi get the power from the SPD2 external 5v? What if I want to power the SPD2 and Pi independently?

Leave it in to power the hat from the pi. When you are ready to power from an external source, you can remove the jumper, but then you still need to power the pi. You can also power externally with the jumper in and that will also power the pie. Just be sure to accommodate the necessary current requirem you can also power externally with the jumper in and that will also power the pi. I am way behind on the hardware manual. Sorry!

    Cheers,

Does the pi supply both the 5V *and* 3.3V or just the 5V (since it has onboard LT3042's & ADP150's)? Does the jumper decouple both of those if you are using the 3.3V?

Got my eval board too! :)

Looks well-built and fired right up on my Pi2. Listening to it right now.

@Michael Kelly: What would be the most helpful way to provide feedback and input?

It would probably be really useful if we describe our hardware and software configuration too.
