One of the oddest speaker as far as looks. It is like "here is a woofer and a few tweeters on a baffle board, but we'll put this screen up so they are not so ugly. I am told they sound way better than they look.
well, when you look at back of a dome tweeter or midrange, they are typically closed, so it doesn't matter much if they are in a cabinet or not... They only radiate out the front.
Right @Brad Tombaugh, but the Dahlquist DQ-10's have three tweeters (dome, cone, and piezo) so all tweeter types are covered, and then a mid-range driver. They are just thrown on that baffle just wherever they fit. It is like the spray and pray method of speaker building. I am sure they sound nice, but aesthetics was not really a priority.
Not at random -- supposedly calculated the distance to account for latency so that the sound would be time/phase aligned when it reaches your ears... this helps with the "imaging" so they have a wide stage with better "placement" of instruments
@Brad Tombaugh Oh...l gotcha. My KEF's are time aligned with the tweeter in the middle. I mean, that accounts for why they are recessed so they are in line with the woofer.
