Is any dynamic range intact? I still have my old '80s CDs for them because all the remasters I've heard have been squashed.

Damn, that's a shame. The old CDs still sound good but it would be nice to have a dynamic master that's in print and readily available. The only recent Marillion release I purchased was the Clutching At Straws box because that's one of my favorite albums of all time, and I do like the remix despite the poor DR.

I'm a huge Marillion fan. Can't decide if Clutching at Straws or Misplaced Childhood is my fave, but they are both high on my list. Only Season's End (after Fish left) I have both the original and remaster, and I think they both sound good....

I have copies of several of the Hogarth albums but my heart will always be with Fish first. I have several of his solo albums as well too! His remasters were done with far more sonic care than the Marillion ones. The first round of Marillion remasters had excellent bonus discs and notes though. These new expanded sets seem to have lots of nice bonus content too, I just haven't dug into any of them except CAS.

I prefer the Fish years as well, but still enjoy the later stuff. Don't have any of his solo stuff though. Not sure why, I should, but it is on my list now.

Also, the bass in Heart of Lothian is one of my go-to subwoofer tests :-)

Glad I ripped the 1980's CD of Misplaced Childhood. I need to get some of Fish's solo stuff.

It makes me sad that we have to deal with the loudness war still.
