I’ve been considering one of these as well because I’ve got a couple of WE 396a tubes burning a hole in my tube drawer…wonder if some of the congestion could be resolved with a great tube like that, or just inherent to the design/power supply?

@rlow its definitely opened up in the last few hours, but still has a sense of stuffiness... i know the stock tube isn't well liked and everyone advises ditching it (as usual). I have a cheap 6N1P-EV on the way, which is supposed to be pretty good. But I'm not about to go tube roll crazy a $150 amp. I am curious about a WE 396A though... any chance you'll sell one?

Going to say no on the sale for now, but will keep you in mind. I would loan you one, but I’m in Canada on the other corner of the continent. May want to post a WTB (buy or borrow) - perhaps someone else here with a spare.

Have you owned the SW51+? Reason I ask, it’s making a damn nice pairing with my Aeolus, using the high Z-out for some reason (prefer the low Z-out for my Senns).

I borrowed it once and it never grabbed me really. I believe I was using it with HD650.
