Thus far, it's not screaming SET-like at me, though I can perhaps hear a certain gentleness up top. Ergonomics are a bit strange (holding buttons down to change gain, etc.), and it gets quite warm quite fast. Neither seem a huge deal. Oh, and it's heavy for such a small box.
I'll eventually do a comparison with Ferrum stack, BHA-1, and Starlett with a bunch of different HPs. But just listening for now. Sort of finding AB-tests a pain in the ass more than fun these days. Will be hooked up to Klipsch Forte IIIs at some point, too.
Overall impression of clarity still coming through. But without the slight edge that the Ferrum (maybe) has. I'll need to do some direct comparisons in the coming week(s).
does this mean the Enleum has a more laid back sound than the Ferrum? I'm looking for an amp that brings out a more lively and dynamic sound for the Sus. was hoping the Enleum was it, but based on your impressions, it's not?
I'm not quite sure tbh and am still listening. I find the differences between solid-state amps sometimes difficult to parse. But I can say I'm enjoying the Enleum thus far. It has a distinct feeling of clarity. Makes me wonder if I sometimes equate "slam" with more distortion. Early thoughts, subject to change.
Listening with the Susvara now and enjoying it a lot. Not wanting for dynamism or liveliness at the moment. Based on audio memory, Sus does seem a touch brighter out of the Enleum than the Ferrum, but it's also a slightly easier and, again, cleaner sound.
I think I'm starting to hear that somewhat tube-like sound some folks have mentioned. It's a bit more liquid, less hashy than other solid-state I've heard. At the same time, I would't call it forward. It's not a "front row seat" kind of amp. Not thus far anyway.
"Vivid" and "more tonal colors" are also coming to mind. I hate audiophile-speak. Could also be new-toy syndrome. Who knows? Unscientific, stream-of-conscious impressions, for whatever they're worth.
