Yea, that's where my brain is going. Either a bigger suitcase I don't pack full or some sort of smaller padded case that would survive the beating it'll get from the airline.

FWIW, I’ve preferred to carry on crate digging scores. I’ve managed both of these and a regular carry on. One is purpose made, rugged, and well padded. The other folds up small—good for sticking in a backpack or even a back pocket—and is a great size with a zipper. Very useful for when I’m not specifically looking for records but they still present themselves.
