    I have. Don't buy the master 7.

We might have different preferences, how can you be so sure? I would love nothing more if you're correct since it would save me money, but...

I'm trying to figure out the difference between Gungnir Multibit and M7. (Before anyone says I should listen for myself - that is not an option where I live, sadly).

I owned both. M7 has more distant stage, but it's also very flat. USB sucks on M7. You need an AES source for best results. M7 is also warmer and more syrupy. Hard to make out bass tones. M7 also a touch of stridency.

Yggdrasil is more precise and a touch more analytical. Stages more upfront, but better depth and holography. Way more resolving. Can make it as fluid as M7 with Lynx card or AES inputs, which you will need to do anyway with M7. Yggdrasil has way more upside. Also better constructed.

Considering cost of M7, you should be getting Yggdrasil. Gungnir Multibit + SPDIF input is basically Yggdrasil + AES with a bit less bass authority, 2.86% less staging, 2.73% less precision, and 2.34% less resolution.

Master 7 has the PCM1704 sound: a bit more syrupy and mushier bass than the schiit DACs. The Gungnir Multibit is more resolving and has tighter and more impactful bass. If you don't care about technicalities and you like the PCM1704 sound, go for it. I for one prefer the older PCM63 vastly and the schiit implementations to any DAC using either of those chips.
