From experience in working as a software engineer, the pattern for most bugs has been: the longer it takes you to find the bug, the smaller the bug will be. Occasionally you'll find something truly perplexing - those are a nice change.
It gets easier. And harder. I've been a game developer for almost 14 years and I still make stupid mistakes. Once you start working with other people, it's always good to have a second pair of eyes if you can't find the issue.
Cont. Just last week I couldn't figure out what the crap I did wrong with a spell. Grabbed a second set of eyes and they spotted a flag I'd accidentally enabled on the visual within a few seconds. Derp.
