Synergistically speaking, I would imagine my Lyr 3 would be likely a better fit with something more neutral, given the tube rolling capability of the Lyr, no?

Is the lack of gapless playback an issue? Would a transport + a Bifrost 2 outperform the ERC on cd playback?

Oof, I didn't realize the ERC-4 wasn't gapless! For me personally, I'm with John @DarkoAudio, and can't do without gapless playback. I have far too many albums that have those seamless transitions that, without them, you'd be completely pulled out of the experience. Looks like I can scratch the ERC-4 off the list.

@snatex is it confirmed the ERC4 cannot play sequential CD tracks without interruption? Do you have one…..

I totally fail to understand the entire concept of "un-gapless" play. How did it ever become a thing? Did the programmers never listen to a live concert recording? Did they even know about concerts: perhaps they spent their lives coding in caves.

Time was when it was actually hard to find a gapless media player for Linux. Even the great play-anything VLC did this stupid gappy thing.

And I had a CD of a Mahler symphony where track numbers were used to refer to notes in booklet, some every few seconds...

“Gapless” is usually an issue for playing sequential files. However, a CD (red book) has one continuous track for the whole thing, so there shouldn’t be any reasons for gaps.
