Excellent Condition Budget On Ear Beyerdynamic Custom Street Headphones.

In stock form these headphones are one of the most enjoyable I have used. I have done a very simple but effective tweak to make them even better sounding. The headphones are the Beyerdynamic Custom Streets. Originally $149 they are sadly now discontinued. The tweak involves using small pieces of dynamat under the removable shields on the outside of the cups. This tweak tames the cup resonance and makes the bass full but much tighter. Mids are less hollow or boxy and even the treble seems to be more under control. I have also removed a little guide pin on the left side input so you can hook up your favorite aftermarket 3.5mm stereo cable. My DIY cable was a noticeable improvement to these cans as well. The right side input is stock so you can use the lock in Beyer mic cable if you wish.

In modded form I prefer these cans to the notable Beyerdynamic DT-1350 and T-51p as well as the Sennheiser Momentums. With the variable port open one notch you get great deep bass clean and upfront mids and nicely presented highs. Still a light wisp of the Beyer treble peak but no where near as piercing as the 1350 up top. Overall very nicely balanced. Now build quality is not in the same league as the 1350 or T-51p with more plastics rather than metal but it should not be expected at this price. Clamp is similar to the two higher priced Beyers.

The dynamat mod is reversible, you only have to remove the badges and unpeel the Dynamat underneath the white stock foam, but you will want to keep it, I would think. Condition is very good and includes original cable, allen wrench, all the shields and case.
