    Hi y’all,

    I finally fixed my SFD-1 Mk II with my dad (retired EE).

    It now has a fully functional, distortion-free, phat-sounding AD1862 DAC module under the hood.

    While we were at it, we swapped the chintzy, tiny 30-year-old output coupling caps for Jantzen Superior Z-Caps which by all accounts are better caps (and cost more) than the Clarity Caps PCX uses in the SE+ upgrade path.

    (The coupling caps arguably make the biggest SQ diff in all the upgrades they do.)

    I paid $750 plus $100 shipping for the base DAC. Plus another $300 for the AD DAC module, and $120 for the four Jantzen caps.

    Will come w Heerlen-made Valvo ECC88s ($200 when NOS).

    Not looking to recoup my costs, but rather to pass on a deal. Friends and contributors get dat preferential, but this listing is open to anyone.

    Sale price is [lowered to] $880, OBO.

    Get an excellent vintage DAC that you can be CERTAIN will work for another 30+ years!

    GLWS! What's the next dac you plan on moving to? SFD-2?

    Also, the status of the 3D elephant sticker may have a significant effect on the sale price. Can we get an updated photo?
