well, better implies absolute terms and what I wrote is highly idiosyncratic, and all headphones have trade offs yada yada. I don't know much about closed cans or closed ether so you got me there...

Mos of these comments are about the ether flow open. To me, the ether c is still the best closed headphone. I haven't tried the flow yet, but I will next week.

Unless you are familiar with a reviewer and their idiosyncrasies, take other people's headphone opinions with a grain of salt. Listen for yourself. Once you formed your own opinion see if anyone else shares it. If they do, you may have have person with silimar tatses and can start to trust that person's reviews and comments.

An Audeze EL8 over the Flow. Those are pretty damning words.

I actually liked the Ether C (latest revision) and recommended it to several people here. The Ether Flow open and Ether Flow closed are no Ether C.

The Ether C is neutral and fairly well behaved. The Flow stuff ain't. I can't go back treble spikes circa 2006.

For those who asked, the Elear has tonal similarities with Ether Open, but less compressed, more dynamic, has the treble peak shifted up from sibilance region to tape hiss region, and is significantly more resolving of fine detail.

Thanks friends for your feedback and fully understand that my own ears are the best judge for myself, unfortunately I live in Netherlands and no one here has Ether Flows so no possibility to get a demo.

I actually watched Tyll's youtube on Ether Flow and he also mentioned they are little bright and personally it won't suit him. Still waiting for his review on Ether Flow Closed wondering if there is issue with delivery of Ether C Flow or something else because he posted two videos on noontec and fostex whole shebang.

Prepare to like them or be out around $180 restocking fee.
You may be OK with them if they are closed version.
I did not find open Ether offensive in treble region most probably due to choice of music, yet the elevated treble region was notable.

    Lol!
    I didn't think EL8 were bad.
I read some damming stuff about EL8 in past,
but when I listened to them last week they were not offensive to me at all, pretty decent actually.
So who knows if there had been changes to latest production.

It was confirmed awhile ago that they've had revisions in 2016. They didn't call them revisions though. They claimed the first shipments got fucked up by the company transporting them or something.

If they're like what I've been told the new ones are, they would end up being the only audeze can I like.

I heard the closed flow and compared to my ether c. All I can say is that the difference wasnt that great to me, so I will not be upgrading. The open flow sounded different from the non flow. Better bass. It was pretty noisey in the tent, so very hard to listen to anything open.

So the Ether C Flows sounded nearly the same as Ether C but with a bit more bass? Because that's what I was searching for.

No. the open flows has better bass than the open ether. The closed flows sounds very similar to to the closed ether. Not enough to warrant the extra price.

If you want a good closed headphone, with solid bass, consider the th-610. It's much improved over the 600.

Also consider the beyerdynamic t5p gen 2. Also much improved over the original.

Eh, honestly, I'd consider the THX00 better than the TH610. That's just me though.

No. Ether Flow C = Ether C + treble peak.

I compared the thx00 and the th-600 side by side at a meet and I thought the thx00 was boring and anemic compared to the 600. Just my opinion.

Note my 600 has the Lawton mod and alpha pads.

I heard another Ether Flow open at RMAF that sounded better than the pair I heard. Noticeably less bright. I think. Maybe show conditions or setup. I dunno. Hoping to try another eventually to confirm one way or the other.

The variables in this case are endless. A not uncommon story for MrSpeakers, with the CS/SBAF crowd being like some sort of Bermuda Triangle.

That said, I would still be willing to verify with more products. Send me all the Flows for science!

The thx00 always was thicker, blurry and congested in comparison to the more open larger sounding th600 to me.
I loved those dam beautiful cups and portability factor over the Th600,
    but that's where advantage stopped.

    There is an easy explanation:
My unit had a "Treble peak fix" with TWO layers to be the solution to the peak you guys heard...
    :p

It was a felt over the driver, and then a foam on top!
I am guessing earlier units simply had a "different configuration"...

I didn't remove damping to check, but it could have had felt underneath too. Though the C we got wasn't damped right...

Wish to upgrade to flow but it seems I'm gonna wait 3 months. Too long.
