So now they would be basically doing a Smyth Realiser, only inferior one. And even Smyth couldn't get HPEQ foolproof on A8. Of course we know headphone measurements are so simple to do lol? :p Imagine the support resources needed from Schiit for something that complicated.

Selling headphone mic kits is something I would imagine only Sonarworks doing, that's their forte.

He's joking because they are already planning on release multiple two-channel products (preamp and amp are the obvious ideas). And yes, Rag basically is a speaker amp.

I think they're going to release a new snack food that plays music as you chew. It'll be called the Schitt Sandwich.

I'm hoping for some sort of some sort of modi sized wireless network streamer ala Sonore microRendu w/ built in adapticlock tech, linear PSU, and USB, S/PDIF, Coax, & maybe even AES/EBU outputs for less than $300. Not sure if that's been dismissed already, but it's one of the things that I feel that is lacking in the market, and one of the things that I would buy without hesitation.

Yeah I like the idea also. Aside from the convenience factor, you change the game because instead of just saying <insert interface here> sucks, it'll never sound good, etc, now you own both sides of the interface and you design them optimally to meet your needs. $300 feels optimistic, but would be impressive. Now with that said, I am not sure if this sort of product is a good fit for their customer support infrastructure. Also, as much as I like the idea myself, it strikes me as a relatively low volume niche proposition that is best left with CuBox and RaspPi tinkerers.

Yeah, I could see how customer support could be a challenge since there's more software/connectivity issues to contend with. If there was some sort of corresponding mobile/tablet app to handle the heavy lifting for most users, and roon/dlna/etc. support for enthusiasts it might increase the convenience/usability and reduce the need to troubleshoot as many unique compatability issues. Even something like connecting via Bluetooth or wifi direct but using it to transfer the raw, uncompressed packets from a source device & buffering/reclocking in the transport from there would be phenomenal.

What I want is something I can plug into my Yggdrasil that will allow me to play music controlled by my phone/tablet wirelessly with no reduction in quality and no need for any other computers/servers/transports/decrapifiers in the chain. That way I can keep my Rag/Yggdrasil in my living room without having to plug in a tablet/phone/computer every time I want to play tunes from my library without having to resort to crappy S/PDIF from a console or TV. I also want it to function with my existing libraries on my phone/tablet/computers so I don't have to worry about syncing the files to another local source.

    I can dream, right? :bird:

I don't see where adapticlock could be used here, since there's no feedback in a S/PDIF transmission.
It is used in the receiver, not the emitter

An emitter that would be aware of its own jitter in the end device - and adjust accordingly - is a cool idea, though!
And one that automatically adjust its output impedance to minimize reflection (which can be sensed on the emitter side, as part of a "handshake" like for ethernet) in the chain (cable + receiver) would be even better.

I'm just having fun, it's what I drew out in the pic... hidden 'cause they (Schiit) doesn't want to support something like that (they've stated that many times) ... so you have to know about it.

It's a perfect transport (pi based), 0 jitter, 0 noise, blah blah blah, and that part of it is a module... can be put in the Yggdrasil (instead of usb)... the other side is the mystery digital (dsp based?)

I know Jason doesn't want to deal with operating systems, but he also hates USB with a passion...

But if a device uses an open source OS?

Doesn't matter, it's still software dev and support. Big no no.

I'd be bold and ship it with *no* OS.

Judging by the community here and other places re: Schiit, and that it's pi based, a community would spring up around this verrry quickly.

And if it was a perfect transport... supporting the couple variations of the i2s out standard (it's just diff pinouts using either an ethernet cable, an hdmi port/etc) (along with spdif) word may catch on about it for use on any Dac (non-Schiit)

I think what we don't see on the Internet are the silent majority of people who call Schiit up directly for help. We may all be able to help ourselves here, but I have a feeling we're just a small fraction of Schiit's total business and support load.

Also, my guess: the SchiitBit. No idea what it does, but it's a cool name. :)
