Guys, I've been playing with ALSA configuration today and I had a realization. There is no consumer grade hardware mixer in existence. For example, when you have two sound sources on your computer, one or both is resampled into your default output sample rate and bit depth. Alsa, and Windows (I presume) offer the ability to offload that mixing and subsequent re-sampling to a hardware device, so that the PC outputs each stream in it's native sampling rate and bitdepth instead of combining them. Is this the new Schiit product? It would seem to tick all the boxes (being still digital but not a DAC). What do you think?
