I think a lot of that is personal preference with regard to aesthetics. The baffles having 2mm vs 40mm of gap isn't going to make an appreciable difference. If you're cloning, you're going to want to measure response, build the right crossover and tweak the hell out of this.

    One speaker is completed

As of now its standing straight and intention is to use spike feet to tilt like 5-6 degrees so lets see if I can get it done.

    thanks

Both are done and playing now. My living room has limited space for these monsters when compared to my klipsch speakers and I need to move them to my loft. Using Dayton crossover stuff as of now and no fancy boutique crossover parts it does play awesome. Crossover as L1 4.7mH, R1 0.22/10w pair in parallel and C1 40+40+2Mf parallel caps.

Soundstage is wide and as if my entire room has become concert hall.

What amps do PAP owners drive it being a 4 ohm load? I am DIY guy for amps too so mostly Class A amps from the Nelson Pass stable like J2, F7 and then the SIT from another diyaudio member zenmod SissySIT R3 model. I feel they are underpowered for PAP as I have to crank up the volume to get a decent soundstage. Reading about these speakers seems like they like high damping factor and high current amps.

Not sure about PAP but driving my Maggie's with balanced M2OPS and plan to try balanced Holy Grail (and F5 derivative) - both high power out - - 100W

I do have built the HGF using those matched mosfets but I did not like with PAP. I went with the default FW rails of +/-24vdc so lower power.

I have set up similar and the best amps I've used thus far for this kind of thing is the Tyr.

A small update with the staining and polyurethane on the baffles.

The AN39 4ohm is the only additional amp that keeps niggling at me to build - I thought I was done ;)

glad to hear it is working out with the OBs

After listening to AN39 vs SissySIT I am leaning towards SIT for that overall connect to the music :)
AN39 has the power and grunt but I feel lacks the finesse for the smooth midrange, not sure if I am jumping to these conclusions early without giving it sufficient burn-in. Both of them I am using the Pass labs HPA-1 clone preamp with AYA 5 being the source.

One more observation @dBel84 about AN39 with PAP using TB W1808 the highs becomes a bit shouty and/or shrill especially female voices and I believe thats normal with the full rangers. But yes the highs on PAP are not as good as my Klipsch Forte III or maybe I am biased with horns :)

I have the upgraded crossover parts coming from hificollective so fingers crossed.
