Not likely to happen. I talked about such direct folder access with our software team, they are not really open to it.

 

Oh too bad, because you can plug in an external SSD with huge library and then you can only skip one track at a time. Of course as mentioned before, the app is there, but we are only talking about the device without an app.

 

Firmware 1.9 working beautifully here in UK. Updated wirelessly with a usb thumb drive added on the back. Very quick and easy.

 

agree. Having Qobuz direct support (as i believe is possible for Tidal now) would almost certainly make me switch to this righty. Hopefully the developers are monitoring requests!

I am guessing only the i2s is the actual native DSD output and everything else is DSD converted to PCM/or other delta sigma format and then converted to PCM, DoP or D2P. Is that correct?

Not in the link. Unless Sony has amended their licensing agreement re SACD, my understating is that no SACD player sold anywhere in the world should be able to output a native DSD64 bitstream without encryption. If all Shanling doing is wrapping an encrypted DSD64 bit stream over DoP, that would be pretty pointless as no DAC other than their own would be able to decode the bitstream.

It's outputting native DSD64 over I2S and the same DSD also for other outputs through DoP. Only USB is without DSD output.

It works for DSD playback with all DACs with DSD support.

To be fair ET-3 can also output any supported audio format in DSD64 vis DoP. The question is whether the DSD64 via DoP is the native raw DSD from the SACD or some form of converted, repackaged or re-encoded bit stream derived from the native raw DSD64 (for example, you can decoded the native raw DSD64 from SACD to some form of interim multi bit sigma delta stream and then re encode that to DSD64 for output via DoP).

Is there any plan to have a loaner program? I will get one if it works well with my Playback Designs dac. Playback's cheapest SACD spinner is $18k..lol

 

We are still waiting for the Shanling HW6000 loaner tour to start, but we might discuss some opportunities on XST20.

 

Need help with my new Shanlang ET3

I just bought a new ET3 and have problem getting pass the language menu.

When I turned on the unit, the display says: "Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English." I tried to choose one of those by pressing the menu button (the big round button on the right side) and turned it clockwise. However, nothing happened. The display was stuck on the language menu, and I could not go any further with the player.

Did I miss something?
