I know that the original Mjolnir does not work with a simple xlr to 1/4 inch adapter due to the topology. Seeing as Schiit solved this by using a summing circuit for SE on the Mjolnir 2, I was wondering if I could creat an external summing circuit for the original Mjolnir.

    Would something like this work?

No, this is for mixing signals.
Not for converting balanced to SE

Ah, well shows how much I know about circuits. Any one have a diagram that would work?

Creating a circuit that's transparent enough with enough headroom would be orders of magnitude more harder than just reterminating your headphones. Also do keep in mind that these are not line-level signals we're talking about.

Unfortunately, there are no easy answers for getting single-ended power output from Mjolnir. Basically, you're either looking at a (big, custom, $$) transformer, or an active summing circuit with significant power output capability, like we did with Ragnarok and Mjolnir 2. It's about 60 parts for the summing circuit alone (stereo, including P/S and housekeeping stuff), and Mjolnir does not have the right power supply rails to run it, I'm afraid.

True, but reterminating multiple headphones multiple headphones gets very annoying fast. I can see why a summing circuit would be attractive.

Alright looks like a no-go. Thanks for the info guys!

I mean Schiit guys had to go the same route for Mojo 2 and Rag and despite their efforts what they ended up was an "utility output". If it's really 60 extra parts to source, solder and support for something which makes you spend customer support hours to explain why one must not to use it... I wouldn't like to be the guy making the decision to include it.

Btw, Sonarworks just bought two Modi 2 amps for our measurement rig. Took me some time to explain my boss, why these would be better than some "pro" distribution amplifiers.
