The Shure 1540 Thread

    It's been called a closed HD650, maybe it is, maybe not. I thought it was fantastic tonally, greatly engaging and mildly euphoric. It's not a technically amazing but really I have a hard time identifying a better fully closed headphone.

    What do you all think about the Shure 1540?

    They use the shure style mmcx connectors I think, which doesn't scream much confidence in terms of durability.

    It had really fat bass, treble not nearly as smooth as HD650, darker/much bassier sounding than HD650, not nearly as clear and resolving sounding. No thanks.

    I liked the Alcantara pads though. I wished they used those for more headphones.
