My name is Liwen, Marketing Specialist in XBERTS(www.xberts.com)，a Y-Combinator backed platform for Internet of Things innovation.

XBERTS is looking for some beta testers for one headphone and one earbud.( find more details in our website or E-mile me)

All three are from startup companies, which are eager to get feedback to improve their products. The testing is free of charge, and you can also keep the sample if you want, on the condition that you write a review about our products.

@liwentan I might be interested. Any details on the target markets for these headphones? Especially for the earbud, based on the ANC I would assume it's intended for general use and not necessarily audiophiles.

Also, 135g for the planar? Not sure what "pc" stands for, it can't possibly be "piece"...

How do I know you won't just sell my information if I sign up for this trial/review? I mean no disrespect to you or your company but many Chinese companies are very underhanded like this.

 

Took a look at your website and I'm not seeing any additional details than what you've already provided here. Product photos are fine and all, but they don't tell me about sound signature, how much pixie dust you've sprinkled on the planars to reduce the weight to <200g, what music you enjoy, or if you still live with your parents (I'm personally not as interested in your sex life as Marv).

Googling O&E and Linner has resulted in very little information aside from Kickstarter-esque hype. In fact, Xberts seems to just be a Chinese equivalent to Kickstarter, which has launched plenty of "revolutionary" audio products that have not delivered or been widely panned by enthusiasts. Not saying you're hawking vaporware or garbage, and as a fellow Bay Area resident working in tech I'm intrigued, but hopefully you can understand why we're skeptical; I've definitely been burned by bad Kickstarters and even Massdrop, which we know and trust. That said, if you guys want to meet me in-person in a public location in SF to hand me a "$2700" headphone for testing, I can't say I would necessarily decline.

 

"Internet of Things" is probably the worst pseudo-tech buzzword ever created. It's worse than dev-ops, cloud-based [insert technology here], and big data. Steer clear of companies promising that they'll "utilize their pervasive cloud-based chatops integration platform to effectively manage information workflows in scalable B2B hyper-virtualization technologies."

 

All the information will be available just in the product team after you are selected for this trail. We respect the policy and we can promise to you that we will never and ever sell anyone's information.

 

Thanks for sharing your views with us. Very interesting indeed. And probably many people in this community have the same concerns as well. I definitely understand your skepticism, especially with increasing scams on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. We work with teams who have already manufactured at least the first few samples to collect feedbacks from target markets, and have our community to curate those products that are truly great before making them commercially available on our website. With regard to limited info on O&E and Linner, please bear in mind that these are startups and that googling (in English) does not capture everything going on in the world. In fact, these startups usually have less than 10 people (mostly engineers) and sometimes crowdtesting or crowdfunding campaign is the first time when they put together English materials for English-speakers to know their products.
With each new product and business model we understand that there are evangelists, early adopters, mass users and late adopters, and those who will never use or trust this product/model. We respect opinions from all people, and you are welcome to make your decisions on whether or not to join a particular campaign, at your time
