Good luck with your search. I nearly traded in all my 6SN7 collection in favor of 6J5s once upon a time. Also, if you ever come across any Philco-Lansdale made 7N7, don't hesitate to buy them, though by now those are unicorns.

    Which 6J5s do like best?

I thought the internals of all 7N7 were the same?

As far as 6J5s - Really the GEC L63's were the best for me, straight bottle / coke bottle (although more expensive). Also followed by the Raytheon and Zenith 6J5Gs are the ones I collected the most. I also enjoyed the all black metal tin can Sylvania/Philco 6J5s, they used to be had at 3-4 dollars a pop and were very fun - lively and dynamic tubes.

Most 7N7 internals are the same, being that 90 percent of all 7N7 are sylvania made. The remaining 10 percent were National Union made and have very similar internals but slight differences. The Lansdale plant I mentioned was a former NU plant, which was purchased by Philco, and then at the tail-end, Sylvania. Anyways, the 7N7 from the lansdale plant is more rare, and some argue are the better/best sounding 7N7, but like everything, is subjective.

Sylvania 7N7s have two different plate types, the triangular posts and the other ones being the angled t-plates. Again everyone has a preference, for example, I have never liked any tube from sylvania with those Triangle Posts. Even stock 6SN7 tubes that came with my amp that were of this type, sound compressed and veiled to me, as opposed to tubes with black t-plates that sound more dynamic and open to me. As you tube roll, you may notice sound qualities that correspond to certain tube types/tube structures. Again, its the whole subjective, YMMV, this could all be in my head, but i've shared my impression for what its worth.

I bought mine from a used on head-fi. They are built like a tank and work perfectly. They were $15 each so pretty great price too.

I currently own a tall bottle T-plate(I think, it is hard to find pictures comparing the plates) RCA pair that I really like. Was looking to get a Triangle plate to try out.

I can second the vote for adapters made by Deyan. I have several from him with no issues. Have also used the chinese adapters (xulingmrs) with no issues.

The Triangle plate versions are a-plenty out there! Also, sorry for derailing your thread. Hopefully people here have some good 7N7 and 6J5 for sale. Unfortunately, I sold most of my tubes last year.

I can't tell what plate style these are, but I came reeeeally close to trying these Sylvanias out in my old Freya with adapters a few years ago:

At the time a 5-pack sleeve of 7N7s was ~$40 plus shipping.
