I've wanted to listen to a SuSy Dynahi for years but it seems like these only go up for sale whenever I take a break from audio!

If anyone has any leads on a SuSy Dynahi (115V), I would really appreciate it. I only have marginal soldering skills and don't feel confident enough to finish one of the partially built units floating around.

Oh damn! Welcome back to the crew, Patrick! Hope you're doing well.

This is a hell of an amp! What are you running these days? Would love to help you find your path forward now that you're dipping your toes back in.

See if you can convince Paradoxper on HF to let go of his. He seemed to like the CFA3 more.

@zerodeefex Hey Ravi! How are you? I've been doing well, been meaning to come back to audio for some time now but kept getting distracted by family and work. Your meet was the last one I attended!

Right now I'm just listening to music out of my phone. Unfortunately I upgraded from a Note 9 to Note 20 Ultra since I really wanted the 120hz screen but lost the headphone jack so I can't even listen to my UE18s anymore. I'd like to get back into dynamics. If you have any advice, would love to hear what you recommendation. @CEE TEE gave me a lot of great advice and I have my eye out for a Stellaris now. I've just wanted a SuSy Dynahi for forever now since I liked my old GS-1 but wished it had more oomph.

@Hrodulf Thanks for the heads-up on Paradoxper! I'll send him a PM. I thought he sold his SWA Dynahi last year and didn't know he had another one. The CFA3 also looks really interesting.

I built one as well. It really is something! If you can manage to build it yourself or get someone to do it for you, you surely won't be disappointed. Non-feedback circuit topology has some special magic.

Would you able to share your listening impressions on how the SuSy Dynahi and the CFA3 differ? I read through the HC and HF threads on the CFA3. RudeWolf's build looked really nice and he gave the simplest explanation on the CFA2 and CFA3. I just read paradoxper's latest impressions and it seems like he likes the bass on the CFA3 more so now I'm pretty curious if it's powerful enough to manage the HE-6.

I'm RudeWolf on HF, so you know my take. Hrodulf=RudeWolf=Rudolph!

It's got about as much power as a SuSy Dynahi, when driven by a balanced source and driving a balanced headphone. Might be worth bugging the HC gang whether it really has enough juice. The power requirements for the HE-6 has always been a mystery for me, I know the theory, but it always eludes me how much is needed to really drive them.

That went completely over my head :) Thanks for the referral to paradoxper, too, he's given me a lot of great advice on headphones and amps. I'm going to start looking for a CFA3 too in addition to the SuSy Dynahi based on his recommendation. The last SS dynamic amp I had was the GS-1 so it's been a really long time.

Out of curiosity, how would you assess the difference between the CFA3 and SuSy Dynahi? It sounds like the Dynahi is a little warmer and the CFA3 is a bit more neutral and has more controlled bass?

The thing that really stood out for me with the HE-6 is once I paired it with the First Watt J2, there was an incredible amount of physicality to the sound. It felt like my eardrums were being tickled which I hadn't experienced with other headphone or amp setups. Part of it was probably due to listening at a high volume. I didn't get that sensation with more powerful headphone amps or a Class D speaker amp. I'm not sure whether that meant that the HE-6 was being powered properly but it was a pretty interesting experience.

I may try to source a First Watt SIT-1 to try to pair with headphones as I haven't read anyone mention the SIT-1 or SIT-2.

Sorry, haven't heard the Susy Dynahi. And if I'd have one, there's a good chance I wouldn't be swinging for another giant space heater amp!

I do hold the CFA3 in high regard and haven't heard an amp which would be able to go toe-to-toe with it. And judging by paradoxper's impressions, it can sit comfortably with commercial designs in the TOTL category. Probably EC, ECP and DNA big tube beasties can edge it out in some aspects (plankton and other things where tubes excel), but there is a good chance that it might hold its own at things where transistors are better.

Having measured the CFA3 with a 150Ohm load at voltage levels way above my listening habits, I'll tell you that it's HD profile is mostly H2 and some H3. Higher orders only start to appear nearing clipping. Mind you that this is SE outs, so BAL outs might shave some H2 off. I do use genuine Toshiba monolith JFETs for inputs, so my CFA3 could be a tad different from paradoxper's.
