Especially with solid-state HP amps, and setting aside power needs, it seems easier to achieve competency on cans. The only solid-state amp I've truly disliked was the Jot 1. Way too steely and flat.

Much easier to tell the diffs on speakers in my case. But probably depends on how good the speakers vs headphones and how well you know the sound of them. The more time spent with one vs the other likely makes it easier to hear diffs when changes happen.

Hard to see how this will end up lowering ticket prices. Live Nation preference for buildings they own isn't the reason why ticket prices are so nuts. Blame artists who don't want to alienate fans by charging true market value of their tickets.

Yes. But decent french fries to put on the tacos. +/- 1 level depending on who you talk to. Most of them are in gas stations near me. One stand alone and it is nice and clean.

Every time I go to Del Taco, its usually a moment of hunger/under the influence or hung over. Its 24hrs at my closest spot and while it hits the spot in the moment, I brace myself for the after effects. Mostly just heartburn lately but cheese is a different story...

IIRC there's going to be another meet this year in a "more official" capacity by someone or some org just can't remember who right now. @ChaChaRealSmooth - do you remember who / what / when this was?

If that's off though, I certainly don't mind arranging another one. Maybe at the same place for easy parking + not bad power + food nearby.

Actually now that I think about it, if we can't figure out what this other event was / is I'll make a poll for appoximate timeframe and location.

Open to somewhere in SD or LA county as well but someone else will have to go check the spots in those areas. But just off the top of my head I can think of more suitable venues in OC and SD county than in LA.

The bass is addictive. Actually loved the combo with Sony Walkman and the bass is as good as I get from my Fir CIEM

Listen with some lower midfi gear for a while. This might reset your baseline. Also, sometimes you just need a break.

Echoing recommendations from @Lyander and @Armaegis -- Clear and clean your space. Dust/wipe down everything. Organize your cables. Rebalance the rack if it's on a desk or floor.

Also, find new music. Expand your genres. Songs you've heard before become predictable and your brain develops burn-in. Hit the puree button on that mix for a week, then come back to your favorites.

Mood (and other body chemistry) can have a great effect on listener satisfaction. As others have mentioned, having an alternate system is helpful to reflect and re-calibrate.

That coupled with brain wave timing especially after the witching hour can be a transformative listening experience.

Although I haven't used an electrostatic amp, I bought a Dynalo from Birgir and had a very positive experience. We had a lengthy email exchange prior to purchase, and he took care of me a couple of years later when the volume pot started having issues. Birgir sells a bunch of used amps on his site, including Tyll's old amp, which @Rthomas mentioned. That might be a place to start without breaking the bank.

I visit Mjolnir's used amp page often and have been mighty tempted. Still a fair spend over there. I think I got starry-eyed visions of a cheap DIY Carbon and a used pair of 007 for under $3k, which has gotten me tempted again. In my big TOTL-ish audition last year, including a visit to HeadAmp in C-Ville, I ended up not being sure if stats are for me.

But I do see plenty of reports that 007 and 009(S) properly amped hang in there with or beat the Sus. And the X9000, in a brief audition, were just a detail monster. Basically, in casting around for something "different," I've got curious about stats again.

I also have the zmf suede Ori pads on these. These are great walk around and office headohones. For the price they're pretty great with these tweaks.

Wow. There is actual texture in the bass. The mids, while a touch thin, are more legible. Well done custom cans!

Just back from a nice dog walk with them. They're more "audiophile" in that I am drawn into the nuances of the recording and production, but they might be a little less fun. C Cans provides a couple options. I'll try these out.

You seem to refer to Wuche one right? I also like their Morandi very much. No doubt they make fantastic linear switches. Nonetheless I value fun factor these days. Joyful feedback to finger is sorta addictive. Especially whey they are done right.

Weiss 204 with Plixir Eite BDC LPS vs PS Audio Directsream MK1 signature edition as modded by APS transformers. These DACs more alike than different but Weiss is more brash and bold while PS Audio more refined. Lots of impressions to come.

Have you heard a wandla? It looks pretty neat, though I can't trust any head-fi opinions on it.
