Ed Sullivan appearances left me with a bad impression of The Beatles. My cousin played "The White Album" for me when it came out. Wow! They changed a lot while I wasn't paying attention. Still my favorite Beatles album.
Hopefully you keep listening to the songs (except maybe Revolution #9). I never knew anyone to change their mind on that one. My cousin recorded it to RtR and we listened to it backwards during the "Paul is Dead" publicity stunt. It was fun and mysterious. (We were still kids.) The local Free-Form FM station played up that stunt - big time.
Most (all?) of the songs were composed while The Beatles were in India. Giles Martin is supposed to remix "The White Album" this year. (Why? To make it sound modern.) If he does like "Sgt. Pepper" it will be compressed to the point I won't be able to enjoy listening to it.
