You get a PS5 Disc version and you hope in 10-15 years not only you can get replacement drives, but the patches that are only available on digital. I stop caring for disc since it is kind of useless......
I used my ps3 as a Blu Ray player until 2 years ago when the drive failed, so I got about 11 years out of it. By then the next console will be out, so no biggie.
@fraggler sony has done a good job with sales this gen. Digital prices aren’t bad if you’re willing to wait. I personally want a disc because I like watching Blu-rays
I do miss the incredible range of formats and codecs the OG PS3 could play. IIRC the slim ones dropped several formats and the PS4 didn't pick them back up. At this point my gaming time has dropped considerably so I'll pick up the PS5 slim or pro or whatever their .5 is for this console gen.
I loved my OG 60gb until its thermal pads gave out and it baked itself. Skipped the PS4, so a big backlog of bargain games to play while waiting for PS5 games to come out.
@LetMeBeFrank Doubtful, & there appears to have been a mistake. Demon’s Souls is exclusive. Though the “human error” on that one could be a slip due to it really being a timed-exclusive.
The only reason Horizon was ported is because of the Death Stranding port. DS having used its engine. Work done there must have made it easier/cheaper to port. For the end of a generation to get PC players interested in PS5.
PS4/XBO are just the same. The value of an exclusive to a manufacturer is first & foremost to get people to buy their platform. Xbox is a little different of course as it has ties to Windows. I think Phil Spencer has said that there will be more parity this gen. Their goals have shifted & are more forward looking. Windows/Gamepass/Xbox/xCloud are converging to 1 shared platform. With ongoing updates to Xbox hardware.
