Okay just happened to me when I clicked on a link within SBAF leading to another page on here:

The experiment is to see if you’re able to turn off the ads they enabled behind your back without your consent.

 

How do you Contact Google... ? I have a cloud service and I have no idea how to ask anything. I guess you don't?

I might completely remove myself from Google platforms in a year. Problem is.. Is it flexible really?


(I have done web dev& design on and off for 8 years for My projects and I would say.. There is no easy way. I am probably going to have to dev. React page from ground up find an intelligent host and thats it. I have a "beta" in one in my dev folder storage somewhere)


Its like Microsoft and Google. I dont like Gooogle suggesting me crap before I type the full term / sentence!
DuckDuckGo for me isnt about privacy for me but actually not being annoyed by the search engine.
I don't like Microsoft W11 because it has Zero customizability in any meaningful way. It isn't flexible enough for me. Open Source systems have like 10 quality desktop environments today.


These companies serve a Client X, I am not that I think. I am not against or pro.. I am probably picking a different product. Thats it.


I appreciate Forza Horizon 4 and FH5 but I am not fond of the system where it runs on. Might get XBOX for that.

Open source is, hopefully going to expand even more in the software landscape, in OS and personal service terms, because I actually love using open source apps, more often than not.

 

I should depend on less too. Forums are great and so is GitHub and GitLab.

Everything is on us anyway. Who knows what you actually need? Only you at the end of the day.

 

What the heck.. This is like Windows updates used to be (Is today?).

Its getting more and more rediculous. Is there a simple software solutions these days, that I control or own? Open source projects are the only solution I see.

 

I get 100 shitty ads on email and 80% off marketing semi scam on email. 1 out of 100 is something I have trust in, and I say ok, this is valuable. Can someone talk me through value? Peace of mind is something you aren ot allowed to have.

Allso webscraper bots. Who said its good idea that a company can feedback" look black mail" you with ads.

Like, get a effing grip people in 2020s.

I am ok with my FB usage these days + Instagram for ads but.. All these "distruptive" techologies just creeped Into peoples personal spaces and like.. I'd say for 10+ years it made everything social creepy. It, I belive just shot my early to mid s 20s by having everybody I know tenser than they should have been + mixed , your life Online and your real life. It did real damage before I ever meet guys at SBAF.

Youtube isnt crap. Most social is overblown, like the smartphone age.

In 2023 I just dont care. What utopia these guys are pushing for, who knows. Lovely social experiments.

Modern life is so much about choice. These ""infrastructure"" services now all want your attention.

What's the right way for any individual? It's about choice. Constructive criticism can work put as they say, actions talk louder than words. The status quo is going to change in time, like it has always changed.

IBM talked about IoT where its everywhere ~10 years ago. So forget about it.


You know, I am not going to complain about anything from today. Its the mental game, why are you with it then? Who said that's how it should be? The less you depend on the better, get what you need and drop what you don't. At least lead your own life. Also, no one cares, espescially in 5 to 10 years.


There are a lot of alternatives to services products we have, we just don't use them. And then complain?

Mindset. I run Tannoy bookshelf equivalents with a Yamaha amp, that sounds just good enough and they have higher quality drivers than a lot of studio monitors I have heard. I would have not found these If I didn't experiment. I might get a decent quality sub for these but that's not the point nor the priority. The point is, people think they know what they want, but really don't know what they need. There are simple solutions.

 

Bottom line is that they are people. They are their founders, their CEOs, their management, the culture they inspire which is promulgated by their staff.

An entity on paper is just that. It is neutral, sterile. People make it what it is.

I mean. Tech == 100+Billion tech companies run a human experiments on society and they have given users "free sites and free server space for images"

The fact that they can allow to run Experiments with your service means you are nothing to them. Like a big big infrastructure service provider with bad habits.

Now the question is, can a site owner turn to smaller more flexible companies. Or is there an ad monopoly now...?

Off topic
I did ~4 semester of EE at TalTech (did not finish, back injury, chronic pain for ~4 years). At least couple of my friends are engineer/tech/it guys with higher education.. And I say for the young generation.

Smartphones is a psy-op on you (over marketing). Smartphones != (does not equal) Tech. Most technews sites prescribed smarthpone as tech on a lot of news sites (10+ years) and its like saying... Tech news!! And show washing machines on the front page. Like give me a fricking break. Get your heads out of the sand.

Start solving and thinking about real problems in real life whether you use a pair of pliers and a screw driver, CLI on a computer or CAD to draw a new project.
