Uh, send one to Tyll at the same time? It's not like they don't have enough of them. If they have some exclusivity with Jude or don't want Tyll to measure them as soon as possible, that doesn't sound so good...

Also, I forgot, while Tyll does a fantastic job, no discussion there, I'd very much like to see Marvey do a CSD plot on it so Senn should send him one too.

Why they don't is beyond me. It's not like subjectivists give a shit about it anyway, wouldn't hurt their sales, but would show a good faith to the objective population.

Maybe your monitor just needs calibration.

Absolutely. Tyll's site is pretty mainstream and stands shoulder to shoulder with (whatever we think of them) some of the most established titles in audio publishing.
I really must get new computer glasses: I read that as mother!

    Repeatability does indeed matter.

Senn's show marketing strategy is.. random at best, though. I've seen them rock up at high end shows with only buttloads of Momentums and a single HD800S before now. It's probably hard to triangulate what's going on with their engineering from what their marketing people are doing.

(Doesn't mean you're necessarily wrong, but it's more like a dice roll, at this point)

Yeah, someone like Jude wielding expensive measurement gear with an air of "it's SCIENCE, bitches" always reminds me of:

His motivation and track record are suspect, no matter how fancy the measuring gear. Even if he did know what he was doing, the chances of him criticising heavily-advertised brands will be slim.

The Senn web-page announcement reads like the work of some junior copywriter. The brief might have been something like...

It's a headphone. We want young people to buy it. Here is some sort-of-technical stuff to sprinkle.

@Marvey My bad, just wanted to show the logos and pads, forgot to mention the reduced shadows on the second set was for seeing the new pad shape better.

Make a better sounding headphone than these appear to be for starters. Then, just start picking from any of the suggestions in the above posts.

I just ran the photos through photoshop, if the photographer took the top and bottom pair using different exposure settings (assuming he did), then the blacks on the top are not crushed, as it shows just as much details within the blacks as the bottom pair.

Also, these are large resolution images, you just zoom in to see the detail. I don't understand why you would blow up towards someone posting some good quality photos of the HD660 for adding to the topic-- you're being cranky for the sake of being cranky.

Is this off-centre name/logo like battle-ship painting? Make people confused about shape and direction? Designed for the audio-loving headbutter?

They must not have been satisfied with the disappointingly low number of people wearing HD800s backwards.

If the blacks are not crushed, then why did you need to run them in Photoshop? And ever since when is the responsibility of the viewer to zoom in?

If you are going to take the time to setup a shot like that on a nice white backdrop with diffuse lighting, and with your name proudly printed along with Head-Fi and the year in the bottom right corner, you may as well take the time to get the exposure and framing right beforehand or during post-process. Or just use an iPhone or Pixel to take the photo and use OOC.

Besides I work in a dark environment. Ever since that incident with the Klingons where my eyes were injured, I am sensitive to rapid changes in light.

Sick of photos presented in pretentious manner that look like shit. Keep mind I've called out Bill-p for going nuts on excess bokeh / zero depth of field.

If would just be nice for a change if people would just take non pretentious photos with the basics like exposure and framing right.

That is actually the good point. Immediate visual left/right indication when looking from "above."
    Damn those Klingons.

My one school-metalwork attempt at arc (stick) welding was a failure. You can't see a damn thing until you strike the arc, right, and if you can't see...

Wonder of wonders: the internet tells me that one can now get instant auto-darkening welding helmets.

Browsing from a dark-theme site to something bright white can be traumatic for all of us. Never forget safety precautions!

I initially booted up photoshop so I could crop them for you, but decided to adjust the levels slightly to make them a little lighter and white balance. They may or may not be correct to what was seen in person, but it's what I arrived at.

I think if anything, the guy should have taken macro shots of the pads, and not use two different exposures, because the latter two show no extra detail compared to the former two.

Exactly. This is why I love you guys. No pretentious shit. And if it ever came down to you guys taking glamour shots of gear with SBAF on the bottom right corner, they will meet basic standards of excellence.

I can't blame you for wanting to keep your own eyes, they can replace them sure but i'd want to hold out for a visor as well.

Heck. Jude takes good photos. This guy's work is not up to par and badly represents the Head-Fi brand. I demand a certain level of excellence when it comes to photos and videos from the Head-Fi brand.

I bet it’s so people can actually read the logo. Similar to how everyone knows that you are wearing Beats from the ‘b’ on the earcup
