      Sitting here today with a Holo Spring2 KTE into the SW51+ and HD800-Jmod - very similar to your "mismatched" system. You are correct in implying synergy is far more important than price matching components.

        @drgumbybrain : Spring2 KTE dac is $2700 US while SW51+ shipped from Russia was $375 US. Some audiophiles would consider such a "mismatch" in price abhorrent. From a listening perspective I hear great synergy between the two and could ride off into the sunset with this system a very happy headphone listener.
