Have read the whole thread. I could try doing it on my own, but all my past experience says you will f**k this up. Anyhow, maybe I'll PM some people. Thanks man!
Aftermarket, but its possible they are borked as well. Ill keep doing my research. Perhaps this is a project I'll have to tackle on my own some day, after buying a soldering iron and learning me electronics. Certainly not a bad thing, at the end of the day.
That way if problems arise, I can deal with them on the spot, rather than someone else wondering wtf to do :)
I'm daunted by electrical soldering, but my limited experience says that connecotrs are easier than circuit boards --- because you have larger metal bits to solder to, and they can take a bit more heat before they get destroyed. Give it a try: you may surprise yourself
You are unlikely to burn the house down, as long as you don't use a propane torch. You may melt some parts, waste a few inches of cable, and, most likely, burn yourself, But not the house. remember: immediately dunk finger, etc. in iced water.
I've soldered many amps and speakers. But I haven't done cables(yet), otherwise I would have offered my services. If my inexperience in this particular domain is fine with you then let me know.
I made one cable. I spent about 30 min trying to get the Paracord sleeve on. When I finally did and was soldering the connector, I accidentally let the cord rest on the soldering iron, melting the sleeving I just completed.
