That was a good read. Getting really tired of "hyper compressed" music. 2 minutes of wow followed by 15 minutes of pain and dialing down the volume pot !!
There's some audiophool bullshit there, supporting the CD's are best thesis, but, on the whole, classical methods to play classical music seem to make sense.
But there is more audiopholery. Does it matter if the data is "streamed" from Scandanavia or Bristol? Not a jot (cf Archimago)
But does it matter if it passes through software that compresses it, or gets played on some end device that, apparently, was never meant to sound better than a 1980s radio alarm clock anyway?
(Is it true that these devices compress? I know nothing about them and don't want/need anything to do with them?)
Most people here don't care if their music comes from a local hdd or a data farm in Timbuk3. But they care very much what happens to it next. That's why we are here.
