Coincidently after recently spending time with the Kennerton Thror loaner I thought to myself it may appeal to Convert 2 fans, based on others’ descriptions. It’s superb on the clarity front, it might just be the last piece of gear that finally allows you to see “through” the music ;)
Same here, want to hear an old school design. But it looks more and more like I’ll be planting my flag in dynamics for good, but they’ll never do sub bass well enough in a fully open design.
In which case I may have finally reached the point where I feel a complementary headphone would be justifiable, or perhaps the Verite won’t sound too closed for comfort.
Yeah, same here. Its been a circuitous route, planars to dynamics to electrostatics back to dynamics...precious money wasted when I had the HD600 and 650 all along !
Haha. Yup, I’ll never let go of the HD650s, and I just narrowly escaped a journey through e-stat land not long ago.
Seems to be the typical SBAF story. Go to the ends of the earth just to realise how good you had it all along, and focus on making the most of it. Well, until Focal/ZMF came along and offered up alternate endings. Finally worthy upgrades to the HD6x0, though not without their flaws.
Another bitterly learned truth was the need to really upgrade the gear upstream to the HD 6x0s....If only I had the Convert 2 and the Phonitor 2 years ago...oh well
For sure. What started me on a path that would ultimately lead here was realising what a piece of shit the O2 was. Now here I am two and half years later planning to import a SET OPT amp next year, though in truth I could happily truck along with my current setup indefinitely.
Man the Phonitor 2 is totally nuts. With the Gungnir Multibit and Utopia combo I have here, it does amazing things. I actually thought about trading my Zana Deux for a moment, but I think I'd regret trading that one forever. However I'll be sad to see the Phonitor returned to its owner after a long trial period, it's freaking brilliant.
