Have there been any reports of build quality problems at all?

It uses the same shitty cable as the Denon Dxxx line, so expect it to kink and fray over time.

I heard these very briefly yesterday. Lovely build, I like the cups, pads are nice (wouldn't mind a smidge softer). Overall the tonal balance seems good; nothing immediately glaring in the top end from initial listen (but that usually takes a longer audition to suss out). Bottom end was a bit too much for my liking; not quite like I was in a box, not quite what I would call one-note bass... but it felt like I was sitting too close to the bass port of a speaker and getting a tuned whomp on every beat.

Any further earpad swap recommendations? I'm really enjoying these so far, but the comfort/fit leaves much to be desired. I may try to use my old (old) D2k DIY modded pads (extra padding added), but they don't appear different enough to warrant a significant change.

Can anyone compare their pair to this one here and see if the articulation on the right side is the same or different?

    Thanks!

Both sides on mine rotate freely. If you can get a small philips head screw driver to where it attaches without damaging the cup, you can probably either loosen it or disconnect completely to clean/lubricate.

Edit: Looking a bit closer, I don't think it's very likely you'll be able to get there without some disassembly.

Edit: The d2000 cup attachment is different. The Lawton instructions should do the trick. http://www.lawtonaudio.com/customwoodchambersinstructions.html

Would anyone care make a comparison between the TH-X00 and the old Denon AH-D cans? I recently picked up a D2000 and I like it quite a bit. I'd be curious to hear how folks feel they compare. I'm hoping @Tyll Hertsens will at least invoke the Denons if he measures the TH-X00s... Thanks!

No problemo caballero. I seriously wonder if one owns the X00, would one then become neo?

UPDATE: I was fortunate enough to have my headphones returned to me by someone who bought them on ebay. If anybody else ever finds themselves in the situation I was just in (having headphones like these stolen), I would suggest posting immediately on websites with prominent reviews of the headphones (like here or head-fi), as well as (in this case) on massdrop's comment section for the headphones (the latter is what helped in the return of mine). Also, be sure to note the serial number of your headphones and take pictures. All that being said, I am super happy to have these back (was REALLY sad about having them taken).

I put some Alpha Pads on the TH-X00: gross. Made them sound really artificial and unnatural in a way I can't articulate. So much better with the stock pads.

Just bought a pair from an eBay seller for $500. Hopefully I'll like them. If not, I'll resell them for $600

First of all, it's unlikely, LOL. Second, I'm not above a little profiteering if possible.

I've seen them sell for 350 on head-fi... I don't really know why you bought them for 500 in the first place :p

Yeah, you kind of got screwed. It's likely Massdrop will have it drop again or there is the For Sale section on Head-Fi like munch said. And saying you'll sell it for profit is just wrong, especially at $600.
