FS: ESX900

I didn't think I would sell these, but the new house out of the city means I rarely need headphones and am almost 100% speakers these days. Shame to see these sitting around and my guitar/recording gear GAS needs funds.
These are built with a TH610 loaner pair for detachable cables and have slim bamboo cups with a walnut stain. They're currently tuned neutral-ish in the treble with the big ESX bass boost, but will include more stick on filters and instructions from EV if you want to darken the treble. They'll come with the 610 box & pads, ESX pads from Ev, stock cable, a ZMF co-pilot pad that my wife stitched closed in the front because it kept popping the velcro open, and a 6' braided silver cable that I can terminate in your choice of 1/4" or XLR using Eidolic connectors. They still sound great with pretty much any source, my favorite being my vintage McIntosh integrated for a cozy couch listening vibe. Asking $600 all-expenses-paid-one-way-trip in the CONUS. Miscellaneous tools, parts, wires, and partially completed circuit boards not included.

 

Price drop bump, want to fund a pair of 50's mono amps for restoration.

EDIT: Whoops my reading comprehension tanked again. Original message quoted below, but yeah this is a hell of a good buy.

Any biodyna implementation with sane treble presentation is something everyone should try hearing at least once. Would bite if I could afford it, I do occasionally miss the TH-X00 Ebony's sub-bass presentation, but hope these go to a good home.

 

Agreed, the ESX900 I heard was amazing. @E_Schaaf worked some wonderful audio hoodoo with those mods IMO. If closed backs weren't anathema to my tinnitus, I'd be all over these like lint on a bellybutton.

 

To be clear:
the TH610 donor pair only supplied the headband/mounting hardware - these had new TH900 drivers from a Fostex parts supplier and cups custom made for @E_Schaaf, then he applied his mods/tuning. Basically better tuned TH900mk2 with bamboo cups instead of magnesium alloy or whatever.

 

Edited the above, my reading comprehension needs work still haha. But yeah someone frickin buy this already FFS, the TH-900 is easily endgame and this is a fixed version thereof.
