Audeze Moebius' features are exciting to read, wish it was passive though to allow being amped. Other than that the above point is much more important as it allows free use of any combination of DAC/AMP/Headphones etc....

You can get the Waves Nx head tracker for $100, and the os-level software for $10.

Stick it on any cans and get the same 3d sound.

As far as I can tell the Mobius is an Audeze Sine with an active Cypher cable and a Waves Nx tracker in one convenient package, plus a few buttons and a BT receiver.

Convenient enough that I ordered one, but nothing you can't do already.

yeah, but I want games and their respective middleware to create a binaural stereo outpout through an object-based renderer. Like for instance in Resident Evil 7. Afaik Monster Hunter World offers their own binaural approach too. More of this please.

    Ordered a Moebius too. :D

    That's going to happen inevitably.

Windows Sonic is built into win 10 and if it isn't in the ecksbawks it will be soon. That supports up to 1000 objects I believe?

It's also necessary for proper vr audio.

It's going to be in every major middleware in short order, though game development being what it is, it might take several years to permeate.

Overwatch already does this, has Dolby Atmos support baked in from the start. The atmos renderer gets proper positional information to work with. It makes it really easy to detect inbound enemies from the sound of their footsteps, spin around to where they are and shoot them in the face.
