    Hajime no Ippo is one of those series that never fails to get me hyped. The improved animation in later series and awesome OP songs add to the excitement.

    +1 Ashita no Joe, and also a newer show called Megalo Box that has some tie-in to Ashita. If you're okay with a bit more silliness the Eyeshield 21 manga (haven't seen the anime) is one of my fave sports shonen to date.
