I demoed LS50's years ago and I found them to be a bit shrilly/thin. This might have been actually dac's/amp's fault (Cyrus Streamline). Might want to reinvestigate... Not that many speakers suitable for near field setup.
I used to own them and didn’t find them shrill/thin (though I always recommend a sub with bookshelf speakers), but I think they have both the “metallic” criticism and the imaging/tonality/detail praise that Clear also get.
