A buddy of mine played sax with them at a few shows. Definitely one of the few post-rock collectives that really pull me in. A gateway to straight-up drone / noise music in my listening journey.
Luciferian Towers is a bit formulaic, but crank it up on a speaker rig and it just washes over you. It's a little less overtly negatively political, too. Much more positive vibe.
^ hence why I don't like it as much. They peaked with F#A# IMHO, and I don't bother with anything after Yanqui. I like that political edge - makes them stand out in the genre. For a more simple, positive approach, there's always Explosions in the Sky - also great live.
