No, they will tell you the 1983 First CD press of Abbey Road from Japan kills both 1987 and 2009 Remasters. I can confirm that is true.

True, that. Or, they'll bring up some original vinyl pressing and say anything else is pure rubbish...

I love 2019 anniversary (sup dx). Not annoying at all. Thoughtfully retuned. Some better articulated + a little more spatial cues. Love additional tracks in discs 2 and 3, too. Didn't hear 2009 but thought 2019 cds pulled most tracks from 2009..

@zonto Yep. I got super lucky and found it for $20 at my flea market from a Beatles collector. Confirmed also it is not a boot, a legit disc with the smooth case. Best $20 I spend on anything Beatles (which said something since I don't like Beatles).

The Black Triangle is good but is obviously from a tape copy and not the masters. Personally I love the remasters but I think the pendulum has swung back towards the ‘87 CDs on SHF, from Sgt. Pepper through LIB anyway. Apparently those ones were all flat transfers of the master tapes.

For Abbey Road I like the remaster the best. The bottom end is so damn punchy.

I'm listening to the 1987 CD and the 2012 LP (from the 2009 remaster) as I type. There's the difference in media to account for, but the 2012 is a little warmer & punchier than the CD. Not as much as one would think, though!

I'm pretty sure the 2009 remasters have better liner notes and stuff. The 1987's are bare bones. I'd buy the 2009 on that fact alone. Thank goodness they sound good (from what I've been told).
