EQ never quite did it for me with the 650s because the distortion in the lows is still there. Flatting out the area doesn't remove the fluffy texture from all the D2 doubling

Yeah I’m thinking about going ‘up’ to the Elex or Clear at some point. I want a bit more clarity and slam, less veil and fuzzy/muddies.

I haven’t. Do they make THAT big of a diff?

Bearing in mind, I would be a complete mod noob, so my abilities would be very limited (and I’d rather not destroy em)

Roon DSP has really helped me to enjoy my headphones more. I primarily use it to correct for my L/R hearing imbalance and I even use it on my Clear to tame the highs a tad.

If you want to cover shipping I'll send you a modded 6XX and you can compare and send back at your leisure. I have several lying around.

Unfortunately I’m on the opposite corner of the continent in Canuckland, and it would probably cost me a mint (relative to the price of the headphones) to ship em back and forth. Not to mention border crossing hassles and potential unjustified holdups and duties, which is why Canada is excluded from US loaners currently.
