I guess I would need to see an audiologist to know for sure but everything seems slightly off center, pushed to the left.

Ah, understood. I was thinking you could use some sort of digital tool to estimate the loudness imbalance, then attenuate one channel to the level you'd need. I guess that's complicated vs. just a balance control off the shelf.
        Are there audiophile balance controls?
        Actually, don't answer that.

Still not sure about Fear Inoculum. Something seems off. Some good tracks but overall, kinda flat.

Lyrics used to be Tool's strength. I hope that will return at least partially.

I guess different strokes for different folks, but I always found Tool's lyrics a bit of a weak point. Of course based on my tastes and sensitivities. YMMV.

Lyrics can keep songs and albums coherent. Instrumentally the album can be awesome but sometimes lyrics add a dimension that make the music more memorable. Fear Inoculum lacks some coherency for me. You can go Rush, you can go Journey (yes Journey) but a story of some kind helps.

You seem to have a bone to pick with this company. I imagine that it is difficult for Chinese companies to establish a good dealer network outside of their home turf, especially when hifi retailers are struggling to stay afloat and only want big brands they know will sell.

From a dealer perspective, the margins are probably too thin on cheaper gear. Outside of the Kinki dealers changing hands once or twice, the Kinki stuff seems to be very well built and performs well above its price range. I'd say the HP amp is at least worth a listen.

I asked Powell about the Kinki situation. He still recommends their products but doesn’t want to support the Chinese government so he’s sticking to US/ Euro companies.

I gotta confess - I know this is crazy stupid but when I saw the name of this I thought it was a play on words making fun of stereotypical Japanese or Korean accent. I read it like, “Fide lice.” I was like, “wow, that’s not cool.”

I guess KLOS is a classic rock station but they also play a lot of other stuff from the 90's and their classic rock selection was not as deep as 100.3. KLOS also trims songs which pisses me off to no end. 100.3 never trimmed.

Solid-state output stage usually means low output Z. However some transformer coupled tube amps sound fabulous with 25 ohms cans like the TH-900.

well, it's more like they amped up the MSRP when they were introduced but even then dealers have been selling utopias for closer to 3k for a long time. meaning dealers had a pretty decent margin to work with. they should come down to 2-2.5k but it'll take a while longer for that probably!

Bought the original ifi amp because I liked the effect of its settings switches in the shop. On longer listening... it is album, even *song* dependent.

Previously, never found any software implementation that I could make work to my liking. NB: Linux, no Windows, and I haven't tried for a long time.

I use both the crossfeed and/or the EQ switches on my Meier amp to obtain the most pleasant sound that I am able with the particular recording and headphones. Sometimes I use neither: it all depends on what's needed.

the elear is not that headphone though. you're better off with the zach effron or modded hd6x0/580 and spending that cash on a good amp for them.

i should also say that mods helped the elear out quite a bit, but it totally totally lacked the cohesion of a hd6x0/580 and sounded disjointed and weird. or buy a pmx2 i guess.

I'm honestly torn on the Zach Effron. With genres like jazz and acoustic guitar, it blows my mind. Unfortunately, I'm mostly a classic rock / prog rock and electronic guy so the cup reverb of the Eikon can make tracks sound congested when things get busy. I sort of miss the airiness of opens as well.
