mids completely sucked out, bass is weird and wobbly, over emphasized in bad places. Add old sorbothane footers back in and everything is back to normal - never thought i'd be this kind of a sorbothane asshole, but here i am!
Before I rearranged my audio rack last week... I found by accident that placing a spare set of custom wood cups on each side of my AF gave it a quieter background. Doubt it was anything electrical b/c wood unless there was some kind of resonance. Actual sandbags, sorbothane, dynamat, etc. on the outside body helped but not as much as the wood cups.
sometimes the shit that shouldn't make a difference but does makes me the most worried about effectively communicating the satisfaction of this hobby to others.
Tried it over the course of 2 weeks and heard the same thing each time. After rearranging my 90's AV cart, the wood cups no longer make a difference. The first and hopefully the last time I experience IRL audiophoolery.
