Other than the treble being nearly too much for me with certain tips, a faint nasal twang to the mids alongside a hint of hollowness to instruments were my sole complaints. Still a bit hollow and grey (only got them back ~2 days ago), but the mids are a LOT more balanced. This is what I wanted the HP-3 to be lmao.
@Tchoupitoulas that's for when I'll have some money to play with haha. I'm just thinking this could be some variation in tuning over years? Got to directly compare with a friend's low S/N (~200) unit and while mine was basically un-burnt in at the time, the differences were stark.
This is mostly going back to early reports of how there was a bit of measured variance in FR. Could just be that my ears have changed since, but regardless of cause I'm enjoying these a heck of a lot more than any other Solaris pair I've gotten ears on to date.
@rhythmdevils I got to try the 2020 version back to back and have to agree that while the smaller chassis is appreciated, the voicing isn't as much my cuppa tea haha. Also tried the IER-Z1R for like two minutes and it was likewise pain.
