To my humble ears, there is more separation, stage is wider and taller, and while the attacks are still fast, there’s more thickness around them. Seems like everything has room to breathe.
Meaning that Yggdrasil’s clock is more precise than Urd’s? (Modern USB is asynchronous and will be played from a buffer using the DAC’s clock. Unless Yggdrasil reclocks SPDIF, too, this input will be fed to the DAC chip using the source’s clock.)
That would be an explanation that makes sense to me. Which doesn’t mean that things that can be heard will always make sense. :)
