Could you achieve the same (for way less) with an Intel NUC and HQPlayer?

@rlow oh definitely. however, I've increasingly been using Apple Music for streaming and discovering music lately, and I would like to simplify the upsampling process as much as possible. no doubt upsampling through the HQPlayer/Roon/Audirvana is more powerful, but the Mscaler path is more straightforward.

I was looking into this also. Please report back how it goes or if you decided on another solution. I'm currently using audiobyte hub which I think sounds great but it's not mscaler.

HQPlayer on macmini using macOS Blackhole loop back software lets all system Audio (incl. streaming) be routed up through HQP.

Waaaayy of topic, but until coming back from my hiatus here, I had no clue HQplayer was used by audiophiles and quite good on sound quality. I had been using it in my job as a method to containerize 128 kbps mono audio for overhead commercial music and host the music player on a shared server in the commercial environment.

Same here. I don't really want to mess around with figuring out HQ Player and its zillion different settings. It'd be nice just to have a box do it seamlessly. But the Mscalar is $$$. If the likes of Schitt or Emotiva came up with their version, I'd be on it with a quickness.
