My main takeaway from this is that more speaker folks ought design PC cases. Not sure how single-digit Hz oscillations can be bothersome to folk but probably triggering resonances in case panels, triggering noise with harmonics? Dynamat to the rescue I guess.
Also hah, love that they go with 3D data for noise. Almost as if steady-state tones aren't enough to capture meaningful data :P
LMAO I'm firmly sticking with mid-tier hardware at best for the foreseeable future. Noise aside, the temps in summer could be actually intolerable for me. The passive Noctua thing looks intriguing, and I'm already a fan of their NH-D15, but passive definitely isn't it for performance
@Wilewarer Passive is great if you are OK with working within limits and undervolting to massage performance. I went passive on my first APU build a bit over a decade ago and didn't go back to fans until Ryzen and Polaris won me over. An interesting side effect of removing fan noise from a system is being able to hear your CPU and GPU registers chattering away under load! Freaky cool!
I don't game (or video edit, or....) anymore, so I have purchased my last Komputer with a fan anything. There is just no reason for the significant noise
