I want the package with the book, but of course it's the most expensive one.

Ouch! I was not expecting this: http://tinyurl.com/yat97co4
I thought Giles would "get it". (I wish I wasn't so sensitive to this sort of thing.)

Looks like vinyl (or a needle drop) might be the only way to go. https://youtu.be/S4fN3vR7_qE
The mastering engineer Miles Showell describes: Vinyl as "no peak limiting", CD as "LOUD".

I got the big set and I really like the remix. The DR numbers are too low but other than Mr. Kite and Fixing a Hole I didn't mind too much. A little EQ to tame the treble would be better than a needledrop IMO.

DR numbers for the Beatles discog is pretty good in their 2009 mono boxset. That's still my go-to, especially for Sgt. Pepper.

Yes, any other release of Pepper except this remix has good DR. Some people on SHF are claiming the mono transfer in this Sgt. Pepper box is better than the 2009. I listened to both and the 2017 transfer did sound punchier but I fully accept that could be placebo.

One of the first things that I learned reading SHF is people's experience of DR can be quite varied.
