Been listening to the archives for the last 30 minutes or so. Easy to get set up. Initial impressions are positive. The free part is even better. Thanks again Dino you rock!

Only one minor deal. Takes a few seconds for the stream, computer and DAC to all start talking nicely with each other. No big deal. Getting 24/192 no problems. Did I mention the free part? :)

I may have gotten 'Mojo Tour 2010' elsewhere. I don't remember.
I got my favorites from HDTracks. I bought most of the others from Pono when they had that final big sale, IIRC.

I recall reading that Petty regretted doing that soundtrack and disavowed it. Did it get an actual remaster like the rest of his albums? If not that would explain why it’s not up to the quality of the rest of them.

That looks likely, @Merrick . It has the same DR as the CD. It has a release date of 2014 while most of the catalog is 2015. Looking at HDTracks, it is the only one I noticed that is no longer available.
The other albums that are not 2015 are dynamic:
The Live Anthology (2009)
Mojo Tour 2010 (2010)
Hypnotic Eye (2014)
Greatest Hits (2016)

It makes me wonder, who did this and why? Did Tidal do their own mastering? That might be a thing. I have not heard of that, though. Did MQA provide the Standard mastering? It kind of smells like it. The MQA is going to sound a lot more dynamic (hence better) by comparison to this unique(?) Standard mastering.

I didn't come out and say it in my post, but I wondered the same thing! Is Tidal giving MQA a leg up by cherry picking bad masters for equivalent offerings? Certainly possible

Glad to hear you tried it (and liked it). That combo was my entry to headphone enjoyment and I still listen to it a lot. (I'd been a 2-channel only guy for decades.)

I highly recommend the filmore east CD. Good stuff.

Zappa Family Trust REALLY did things right on the CDs that were remastered in 2012.
Some 2012s are just RYKO rereleases. (lukpac lays it out in the link.)

Might not be much interest in great sounding FZ masterings here. Still, I forgot to mention the MoFo releases. All great masterings and a bunch of bonus material.

@spwath 's question made me think: Big D was given a spot on SBAF to keep him from making noise all over SBAF. Later, Marv made a spot on the internet to have a place away from the noise on SBAF.

I suspect that the only place without noise is a place without internet!

I saw that post. Kind of a humorous way to make a statement. And sad that he created and put so much time and work into something that has become so disappointing to him in 2 years time.

Im amazed by how hard him and some of the others work at providing valuable content.
