Remember the Verum guy talking shit privately in a joke and he got cancelled by sbaf? Some said it's an overreaction to locker room talk and the ban hammer dropped. You want it both ways, got it, life moves on.

No. You have a skewed alternate version of history. He got cancelled for very public comments about N this and N that, and how Ns were the ones getting COVID. And when confronted, doubled down on it with excuses instead of offering a sincere apology. He or allegedly a drunk employee, also shat on a customer, wishing cancer upon him and his family, of which we stood for up him, accepting his explatnion of drunk employee. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Politics inevitably come up in those movie discussions because the air around movies and the content has become heavily politicized. This would be fine if it wasn't reinforced on the social media networks, where celebrities and studios have become better at finger wagging and lecturing than telling effective stories. Politics has always been in movies to a certain degree but it usually (quite skillfully) was buried in subtext. That's because the people making movies understood that the type of control they were after was better exerted when the audience didn't know what was going on or what was being projected into their minds. Hollywood is now so hopelessly inept it doesn't even understand this basic concept, which is why you get these endless online battles. People are hip to what's happening and many many do not like it.

Tom Cruise, Paramount and the Top Gun filmmakers still seem to understand what the rest of the woke industry does not. It's not even that you can't or shouldn't politicize content, it's that if you decide to do that, good storytelling should be the priority, with any messaging you're after being buried under the surface... that way audiences happily keep coming back for more instead of making your movies bomb. Yeah Lightyear is bombing... it wasn't supposed to, but Disney doesn't know how to do anything without a giant messaging sledgehammer these days (reinforced by finger wagging celebs and activists on twitter), so in turn their stock keeps tanking.

Anyway, Kenobi ultimately sucks because the people making it didn't do their jobs properly. Whether or not that's because they can't get out from under the thumb of woke executives who destroy content by forcing their dumb ideas and inept decisions into the process, or because the filmmakers really do just suck... who knows. Jordan Peterson has nothing to do with any of this, unless you connect in a six degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of way, but then you can kind of connect anyone in that case.

Not to defend one mod. But because the Internet, forums, social media, SBAF are simply unhealthy psychologically, especially since the COVID lockdown. My sincere wish is that people eventually "graduate" from SBAF. There are some dear friends who have gone forth with their lives. I am happy for them.

This is why I had strongly considered shutting down SBAF, and doing 30 second videos instead. However, this forum format is proving popular, so it continues per request from a not so small group of people wanting to me to stay sane instead of going insane.

Could be I have a different version, when I got banned it was because of a joke with an unnamed group where oil comes from.

But yeah, I will defend when people I respect and benefited from directly are being dragged through the mud without justifications. I'm still not sure or being told what harm is the guy doing to merit shittalking. Can't be disrespecting without expecting some push back. Anything else is ignore mode.

And no, I won't leave, I'll stay right here and discuss tubes and amps and dacs and whatever audio things I love, enjoy and share with others.

Take it up with the mods privately. I don't know the circumstances. I don't moderate. This was intentionally structured. If I moderated, I would have gone insane and ended SBAF by 2017.

I would like to finish my Sonnet DAC review. Don't be surprised if the mods suddenly ban a dozen people so I can do that. They know my state of mind and how many external projects I've taken on. They will defend me and my efforts to produce content no matter the cost.
