Great blog! Is it frowned upon for anyone to post their own "best of" lists for say, "all time" or is it supposed to be year specific? I noticed others are dropping in their own album choices.

First off, a sincere thanks for the messages of support and all the encouragement to start this blog up again. Writing about music is a passion of mine: I’ve got notebooks full of writeups, I just assume they’re not really of interest to anyone lol.

I’ve also been planning a guide for getting into vinyl, directed at all levels of experience and with advice for all kinds of budgets (from $500 to $10k). Not sure if anyone would be interested in something like this? I still get the occasional PM asking for this sort of advice, and I’m a weirdo who never sits still for long.

Oh yeah! I’m also putting together a piece on cassette tapes in the year of our lord 2021. Speaking of which, I’ll leave you with one such album recently released:

Hey Muppet, I followed and contributed occasionally to one of your old HF threads years back. Wandered onto SBAF and saw you've revived this old thread in the last couple of minutes - hope you're well.

    Cheers

Some brief thoughts while brewing coffee this morning.

Ever since their breakthrough album Snailking, Ufomammut has been one of my favorite psychedelic-flavored doom metal bands out there. Apologies as always for the upload quality.

For the last few months, I’ve been living with the Fluance RT85 turntable. It costs $500 as a complete package, including tonearm and cartridge. Sans a phono stage.

Every now and then I like to check out “entry level” turntables to get a feel for where the industry is currently. All I can say is wow; this certainly does not feel like a budget turntable. Combined with the Magnepan LRS and Schiit electronics, it makes for a really nice little system IMO.

Hey MuppetFace, Nice on the Fluance. This is the one I worked on while I was at MD:
    https://drop.com/buy/drop-audio-technica-carbon-vta-turntable

VTA for diff carts, a built-in but defeatable phono prec, carbon fiber tone-arm, and you can buy a replacement Microlinear stylus to put onto the stock Elliptical cartridge for $100.

The Fluance looks good though for a little higher price of entry.
