Not the most elegant solution but you can always cut one of the wires from the PSU and put an inline switch on it.

I have iee power chord with switch on it for other device. Here the concern is to be able to send shutdown signal to Rpi.

Sorry I may have missed it - what OS are you running? Does it have a web interface?

Since I'm trying to help *you*, not the other way around, you could make it easier and just answer my super simple question. Too lazy to sort through replies. I'm out.

I think you misunderstood a reply from coin777 which wasn't directed at you.

Possible. I'm trying to understand if he/she is wanting a hardware or software or either switch.

FWIW, my recent order (with the black case) came with silver machine screws of only one length, so the bottom short standoffs couldn't be tightened against the bottom plate. I had shorter screws around that I used instead. There were also 3-4 black self-tapping screws that are used to secure the XLR and RCA/Toslink block to the case.

@hpamdr was the one looking for a powerswitch

@coin777 posted links that provided guidance on exactly how to get a working powerswitch (and also a "power" LED so you knew when the OS had shut down and it was safe to unplug). Coin was just pointing to hpamdr that the links had the info he/she was looking for... Coin wasn't replying to your question

Why not plug into a smart switch, so you can turn on/off by phone or voice command?

Because doing so, You can corrupt the SD card and risk not turning Your rpi again.
I guess You don't turn Your PC off this way.

Been doing that for the past 3 years with all four of my Pi4. Never a single sd card failure or Pi not starting. you need to do software shutdown first before you shut down with the smart switch. How is this different from you unplug the psu?

You didn't write anything about a software shutdown. Just Hardware by unplugging it

In Volumio this is definitely possible, it's an option in the main menu. Other RPi builds have something similar I presume.

I'm new to Pi2AES and Volumio, and when I use the Shutdown option, the app never seems to actually shutdown. I have taken to running it before unplugging if I'm going to not be using the device for a while. Is this typical behavior?

it’s available in moode as well. you can also through ssh and type “sudo shutdown now”.

All I am suggesting is a smart switch is a convenient way to turn your Pi on/off without having to physically unplug or to install a switch through jumpers

The program itself is shutdown but the Pi and the pi2aes is still connected to power through the gpio header unless you unplug the power supply or as I mentioned use a smart switch to cut the power

The PI2AES shield is blocking easy access to the GPIO pins. How would one connect the wires for the smart switch? Does one solder or twist wires around the proper pines and sandwich them between the shield and the RPI?
